17 things I learnt as a 17 year old

As I hit the all important one eight, I've hit a point where I think it's time to do a bit of reflecting. 2014-15 has been a life changing year for me, and I've learnt a few things, which probably seem pretty obvious to some people, but they only came to light to me this year... Some of these are life, fashion and beauty related. Perhaps you'll get a kick out of some of the things I really didn't have a clue about, but I've learnt as I try to make some sort of transition from kid to adult. Enjoy!

1. Procrastination doesn't work when you're a perfectionist

This is something I've struggled with, and it applies to my school work... Cramming in revision has always worked for me, but this is a habit I need to leave in my under 18 days. If you work hard at stuff everyday, the outcome will always be much smoother.

2. Netflix really can ruin your life

I don't have much to say about this one, apart from that "free trial" turned into a year of sheer time wasting. I have so much that I want to achieve this year, and watching TV isn't going to get me anywhere! Netflix is such a blessing but such a curse...

3. It is never too late to be a #GIRLBOSS

Sophia Amoruso is queen of the Nasty Gal empire, and is 101% one of my idols. Her book has taught me a lot- you have to always think on your feet, as well as outside the box and work hard at whatever you do. Even when you've a bad day or things have gone wrong, there's no point wasting the 2 hours of the day I have left right? Worrrrkkkkk.

4.You should always do things now that your later self will thank you for

It's been a month since I started properly working out and going to the gym. It was such a struggle at first, but I've really gotten into the swing of things, using all the tips that I wrote out earlier. We've been working out in a group of 6 so we've been keeping each other motivated, and I'm proud to say that after just a month I've finally started to see progress!

5. An iPhone charger & headphones is to be carried around at all times

Enough said here really.

6. Clothes can't replace people

I went through a really horrible period of shopping sprees and hauls, trying to get rid of my anxiety. I'm glad that's all under control now, and I'm moving forward a stronger and happier gal. ;-)

7. People can't always make you happy

I learnt to stop depending on people! It really is okay to be alone and work on making yourself a better person. I find alone time to be therapeutic, and take time to reflect on who I am, as well as how I can improve on myself. As Ru Paul says, IF YOU CAN'T LOVE YOURSELF, HOW IN THE HELL YOU GON' LOVE SOMEBODY ELSE, CAN I GET AN AMEN?

8.To do lists keep you on top of everything

These have become something that I use when I feel like the weight of everything I have to do is going to just crash down on me. It feels really great to tick things off, and it helps me get more things done!

9. Comparing yourself to other people is useless

One thing that's hard to do when you join something like the blogging community, is not to compare yourself to other people. Its so easy to sit back and look at the successful ladies such as the lovely Zoe Sugg (Zoella), Sammi (BeautyCrush) and Victoria (inthefrow) and just be completely overwhelmed- They're so popular! And rightly so, they generate engaging content, and I personally could read and watch them all day. It doesn't make sense to compare myself to them, which is what I have learnt- we are all at different stages in our blogging journey. I would really like to improve upon my writing, and my photography skills because I don't feel like they're up to scratch. I simply enjoy blogging and sharing things with people, and if people come back to read and follow that's an added bonus! ( If you read my blog, I really do love you!) So yes, I've learnt to enjoy my blogging and you tubing and instagram and to not compare myself to others. I love what I do, and I will continue to post things as long as it makes me happy!

10. If you tackle every day like Brock lesnar, you're winning

I only realised this the other day, but Brock Lesnar is an ABSOLUTE BEAST! If you don't know what he looks like, tap his name in to google- he's HUGE. I also happen to be a fan of WWE (I used to watch every sunday, but not so much anymore) and I watched him dive into the challenge of fighting John Cena (he's also pretty huge) and win. I think. I don't really remember, but he has this great tank top that says "EAT SLEEP CONQUER REPEAT", which is really how you should live everyday. Life really is short.

11. The only workout you'll regret is the one you don't do

This one's pretty self explanatory too!

12. The best revenge is to be silently successful

There are always going to be people that don't believe in me, or my dreams and think they're far fetched. However, I've got to a point where I really have learnt to just not give a damn - hence the fact I started a youtube account. If it all goes tits up, at least I tried! I'd rather try and fail than not try, and well... fail.

13. "Pain demands to be felt"

This one is a pretty big one for me. I went through a period of being emotionally numb, which funnily enough isn't really all that great. Nothing really upset me, or made me happy and looking back on it it sucked. It all happened because something happened which upset me greatly, and instead of facing the problem my brain ignored it, until it all came flooding out a couple of months later... I cried for absolutely ages, and you know what? It felt good! Sometimes you really do need to cry and feel pain to get over an issue, so I no longer have a problem with grabbing a Ben & Jerry's Karamel sutra and sobbing til my heart's content. Here's to emotion! *toasts tub of ice cream*

14. A tidy bedroom = a tidy mind

I can only think and work properly when my environment doesn't look like a dumpster.

15. Wear what you want - someone somewhere isn't going to like it anyway

*cough moschino phone case cough* I got a lot of stick for my Moschino Barbie Phone case. "Unecessary"and "impractical" were among some of the kinder words. None the less, I love it, I think its beautiful and it will forever be in my heart. I let my little iPhone 5 wear it's cover with pride, because once again, you'll only be happy when you stop caring what other people think!

16. I will never know who A in pretty little liars is. A is my toothbrush

If you watch Pretty Little Liars, you'll know how stressful that show is. Who the hell is A?

17. Eyelash curlers actually work

Who's have thought that eyelash curlers can curl your eyelashes?

Which one of these do you find the silliest? So weird I've had all these strange revelations...
